We’re proud to present the first round of lineup news for year 11 in Austin! Once again LEVITATION will be hosted in multiple venues and spaces in downtown Austin’s Red River Cultural District and East Side.
In this first round of lineup news we’re thrilled to announce three very special shows at Stubb’s, pairing up two great artists each night. On Thursday, Angel Olsen and Devendra Banhart are sharing a bill together, while Saturday night brings the legendary John Cale of The Velvet Underground together with Velvets disciples and festival founders The Black Angels. On Sunday Kurt Vile & The Violators team up for a show with indie heroes Dinosaur Jr.
These epic bills continue through the weekend. Grammy award-winning metal trio High On Fire and Texas thrashers Power Trip are at Mohawk on Thursday, with a a trio of psychedelic heavies on Friday: Black Mountain, Japan’s Kikagaku Moyo (who also playing a 2nd show at Barracuda with Holy Wave), and Aussies Stonefield. Black Moth Super Rainbow bring their sinister kaleidoscope to Mohawk on Sunday, topping off the list of shows announced at Mohawk so far.
Acclaimed independent record label Sargent House has curated a STACKED bill featuring Deafheaven, Russian Circles, Emma Ruth Rundle, Brutus & more on a two stage show at Empire on Friday. They are also presenting a full acoustic set by Chelsea Wolfe at the Central Presbyterian Church on Saturday afternoon. That same night, Relapse Records presents a label showcase featuring Red Fang, Torche, Monolord and more to be announced. Sunday night brings a showcase curated with Death By Audio, headlined by guitar pedal genius Oliver Ackerman and his band A Place To Bury Strangers and London’s The KVB. On Friday night, Oklahoma’s Broncho team up with LA psych scene favorites Frankie & The Witch Fingers & Death Valley Girls.
To cap it all off, two big Saturday afternoon shows have been announced with California surf kings Allah-Las & West-coast psych vanguard White Fence sharing a bill at Empire, and Riding Easy Records presenting Acid King, Here Lies Man + more at Barracuda.
